He vows to protect her with his life after seeing for himself.

Excerpt

I opened my laptop and went to Facebook. I went through my usual like, like, and updated my status. Up, up, and away in my beautiful balloon through the ‘Land of Enchantment’ today! I turned the computer off and gathered my things, placing them on the table by the door.
I sat back down to finish my coffee and heard Logan at the door. I went to open it and he said, “Good morning, Isabella. Are you ready?”
“Morning. Yes, all set,” I replied.
I locked up and we pulled out of the drive and past the security gates and we were on our way.
Logan said, “We are leaving from our business parking lot.”
“Cool, how did you arrange that?” I asked.
“Well, I have connections with the pilot,” he replied.
“How’s that?” I asked.
“He’s my uncle. His name is Joe Hayes and he is my father’s brother. You’ll like him; he’s pretty cool,” Logan said.
“That’s neat. You have your own balloon pilot,” I said.
“It does have it perks for sure, but on the downside, I have had to play balloon chaser on several occasions,” Logan said.
We arrived at Logan’s office and sure enough, there was the balloon being filled with air.
We got out and Logan inquired, “Do you want to go watch it filling?”
“Yes,” I answered.
We walked over to the balloon.
I watched in childlike amazement as our balloon was made ready for us. Logan’s uncle came up to me and said, “I don’t believe we’ve met, because I certainly would have remembered it.”
Logan said, “Uncle Joe, this is Isabella Reed.”
“Glad to meet you,” Uncle Joe said.
“You, too,” I replied.
Joe said, “We will be off in just a few minutes.”
“Great,” I replied.
The balloon was on the ground and the basket was on its’ side on the ground. A fan was blowing into the balloons’ envelope and the material opened up and was flooded with color all of a sudden. It started to almost straighten up and it was beautiful with turquoise, purple and green. Each color looked like a cloud around the balloon with turquoise on top then purple and last was green. It had a nice basket with leather trim.
Joe got in and fired up the burner that seemed to breathe life into it. It had that same heavy breathing sound I heard on the first morning in the land of enchantment. They told me to get in the balloon as well. Logan straightened and untied the ropes while he kept us there and then jumped into the balloon. There were two more guys who were taking our pictures and then they jumped in their trucks.
Logan looked at me and said, “They are balloon chasers for us. They follow us around in case we need their assistance and help us with the landing later on.”

I nodded my head as we started our adventure ascending higher and higher until we were drifting on a peaceful breeze. It was very close quarters in the balloon basket and Logan was touching my arms and legs. I caught a breeze and I smelled Hugo Boss cologne. The day just got better. I couldn’t believe it. My first balloon ride ever and I was up in the clouds with the most handsome guy I had ever seen who was touching my whole body on one side, making gentle pulsations flow through me like electricity. What has this guy done to me? I looked up at him and he had a smile that would melt even the coldest heart. He looked down at me with a look that seemed to say I was the most beautiful girl in the whole world. How did he make me feel that way?

Logan pointed to a river as we approached. “That is the Rio Grande Valley.”
We went across it in the cool, crisp morning air. We were at the top of the trees. Logan reached out, picked a couple leaves and handed them to me. I couldn’t believe we could touch the treetops. We were floating through the sky weightless like the clouds and it was so wonderful.
Logan’s uncle told me about some of the history of the area. He was also a jokester and was very funny. We dropped down to lightly splash the basket in the river and then went back up again. I sputtered with squeals of joy and Logan laughed. We continued to float across the sky and headed toward the clouds. Logan turned me around with his strong arm around my shoulder to show me the Sandia Mountains. I could really get used to that arm around me. Oh, there I go again, I scolded myself. The mountains were breathtakingly beautiful. It was so serene and tranquil. The rising sun with other balloons around it painted the sky with a silhouette that was major eye candy.

We continued on our magical journey with a view like no other. We crossed over peoples’ homes with them looking up awestruck, waving to us. This is a real friendly place to start with, but in
that moment, I felt like a movie star. Logan reached in his pocket and pulled out these cards and threw them down to the kids. They looked like credit cards.
Logan explained, “These are balloon cards that tell all about this balloon and about the pilot with a picture of the balloon on the front. They are collected by young and old, sort-of like baseball cards. Have one, Isabella.”
Wow, this ride has been full of excitement and surprises. This was an unforgettable memory.
After more time with Joe telling me about this mysterious and wondrous place while drifting through time, we started going down toward land. Our balloon chasers were waiting for us on the ground and after a bump, we landed. It was a piece of cake. We climbed out and my feet touched the ground, but I was already dreaming about my next balloon ride. I knew I would do this again without a doubt.
“What did you think, Isabella?” Logan asked.
“I think I am totally in love,” I replied.
Everyone turned and looked at me and I said, “With this ballooning activity.”
My face instantly flushed at how my original words sounded.
Joe said, “I’m glad you clarified that because I am happily married.” He flashed me a wink.
“It was incredible beyond words. I am really mesmerized by this place,” I said.
Joe said, “You would be surprised at how many people come here to vacation and never leave.”
“I can certainly see why,” I enthused.

Ceva frumos... De V-day. :>

Blog tour: Love Lines, by Diana Nixon(review & dream cast)

I received this book from Diana(thank you!) a few months ago, and I got to read it two weeks ago, between math, biology and other school subjects. :D
Love Lines is really a sweet book, I got to read it without knowing anything about it, I haven’t read anything about it, not even a single review or description, wich I highly recommend you to do it. :D I wanted it to be a surprise and it fully worth it! Only the title succeeded to attract me, and it was enough to make me want to read it and then to love it.

The main character of this book is Eileen Clark, a seventeen years old(almost eighteen) girl from Norfield, that just graduated high school and who considers herself to be a pretty normal person, until the moment when some awful nightmares are disturbing her sleep several nights in a row. Considering her best friend’s advice, Amanda Fairey, Eileen goes with her at a fortune-teller, who seems to know about these nightmares. This so-called fortune-teller corrects the girls, calling herself not a fortune teller, but a Feta, a fate reader. Then she examines Eileen’s palm saying some none-sense about Eileen being born to be a Fairey family member. None-sense for Eileen, but not for Amanda, how we will find out about later.

The nighmares are still making their own way through Eileen’s sleep, so the surprises do. Eileen finds a letter of acceptance at the University of Dever, being forced to give up at her dream to follow the University of Sheffield. The things get better when she finds out that Amanda will go there too, and as strange as it may seem, they must go there immediately, cause Alexis Wilde, the head of Dever, came after them personally.
Before they arrive, Alexis explains to Eileen why was she accepted at Dever, and the truth is that she was never so normal as she thought to be. She possesses some supernatural powers, and Dever is full of this kind of students. There she will be able to train herself and to manage to control her powers. Not only that, but she finds out that Amanda always knew about this hidden world, and she was always a part of it, even if just from the edge. The Dever’s faculties are seven at number, based on the abilities: Fairey, Feta, Vero, Ventura, Meridin and Wizardy.

At Dever, Eileen meets Amanda’s brother, Christian, and they experience together new feelings. They fall in love and discover that there is a thin bond between them, that brings them even closer. That’s all I say, for now, but I asure you that this love story is so nice and well built, with interesting details about their so-called bond. :D Yet, even though Eileen came to Dever, she will start the normal classes only after her eighteenth anniversary, until then she is being introduced in this world’s secrets by the amazing Evan Murray, that seems to notice how special Eileen is. It is good then that she has eyes only for Christian, her love.
Her staying at Dever becomes even more pleasant, not only because of her relationship with Christian, but because she meets a lot of new people and friends, she discovers new things about herself, about her powers, her real father or why does she has to fear of some renegades of Wizardy, that are after her. Eileen is in the middle of the two parts that are shaping, the classical good and evil, the bad intertwined with the good, disturbing the natural order. But her strong character will defeat every evil, with the support of her close friends, because they have by their side love and good.

My opinion:
Even though I had no idea what to expect from this book, I was surprised about it, in a very good way. The characters are complex, perfect to be loved, and I liked the way they were built, and the way everything was described. And the most important thing, Love Lines has passed all the tests with me, from the moment that succeeded to captivate me, at the very beginning. And that happens quiet rarely, in my case. :D
Apparently simple, the story behind Love Lines hides many complicated things, that reveal themselves along the story. When you start to believe that everything is good, that Eileen discovers everything about her supernatural life and she finds her love, and normally, in every book this is the part where the story ends, in this book this is the part where the story actually begins.

Eileen is definitely amazing and special, not only strong, but clever at the same time. And Amanda is a sweet girl, that kind of reminds me of Bonnie from The Vampire Diaries. At character, of course. And Christian is the perfect boyfriend. He is so protective and warm with Eileen, and his green eyes could conquer any girl. But my favorite character is(did I mentioned him before? Hmm… )definitely Evan. I love his character and his mysterious manner of talking and acting.
What I liked about this book is the fact that I found so many symbols, like for example, the flowers and their meaning, the number 7, that becomes some sort of a burden, that strengthens the complexity of the novel.
I have to say one single thing I didn’t liked. Even though I loved Love Lines, I would’ve liked more action, because the book is a little too static. But I can’t wait to see how everything evolves in Song of The Wind, and is my opinion will change. :D

If I had to associate Love Lines with other books, I don’t think I could, it’s unique. In a sea of great fantasy books, that exploits all kind of subjects, Diana Nixon has succeded to create an unique world, in which supernatural combines with love and a lot of romantic symbols, and that is to be highly appreciated.

So don’t wait much and start reading Love Lines, you won’t regret it! ;) :D

Rating: 4.5/5
And here is my dream cast of Love Lines! :D Tell me if it fits yours! :D

What do you think about it? :D

  • SALVATĂ DE UN STRĂIN. BÂNTUITĂ DE UN SECRET. CÂTEODATĂ, DRAGOSTEA NU-I UN LUCRU SIMPLU…

Precomanda aici!

Lectura placuta tuturor!:D Eu nu am citit-o, pentru ca am asteptat sa apara si la noi, deci se subintelege ca abia astept sa-mi cada in maini, nu-i asa? :D

Blog Tour: Ember by Madison Daniel(Review and Giveaway!)

Ember (Ember #1)
About  Ember:
Ember is the story of Max Valentine, a teenager with secret abilities and many inner demons. His life revolves around music and his love for it. When his father dies he seeks answers with his last living relative, his fathers brother Frank. Frank lives on the island of Maui and eagerly takes Max in as his own. Max soon learns that healing his past will be more difficult than he could have ever believed. Two major complications will tempt and torment him as he tries to make sense of his abilities.

The first temptation comes in the form of a mysterious island girl. Asia Lyn Michaels is rich, spoiled, angry and beautiful. Her path crosses with Max on the beach one afternoon, forever changing both of their lives. Max saves her life and she discovers his secret. From that moment on they are connected, no matter how much they fight it.

The second temptation will test Max’s very soul. Samantha Ann Summers is sweet, artistic, smart and confident. She will help Max find his smile again and maybe even heal his past mistakes. She is possibly his soul mate and Max will fight that with every fiber of his being.

Max’s temper and indecision with the girls will send in motion events that will cost him dearly. He will test the limits of his powers and the new relationship with his protective uncle. He will gain a powerful love and lose another.

Romana:

Recenzia mea:

English:

My review:
Ember it is the kind of book that maybe doesn’t catches you from the very beginning, but when you start to feel its taste, you will never want to let it go of your hand. I don’t really know, but it has something special that keeps you tight, feeding your curiousity, and sometimes can make you go from one extreme point to another: either you love it  from  your entire heart, either you hate it.

The events from this book are happening in exotic circumstances, we find out that Max Valentine is moving to Hawaii, at his uncle Frank, after some unhappy events that made him take this step. Everything is well described, you can almost feel the sea breeze or the rain drops falling from the sky, and the sounds of guitar are following you through the pages, like they are meant to loosen up the spirits.

In the first part of the book, you can notice that Max is a little melancholic when it comes about his past, and between the lines we can sense his sorrow, that marks some of his actions. That’s because his life is not pink anymore, because of a tragedy that happened long time ago. It is worthy to note that Max is not a normal young boy, he is gifted with a supernatural power peculiar to him, as for his character. After all, he’s not being called Mad Max for nothing. :D

In contrast with the novels from now, from the very beginning we notice something different about this book.  That specific love triangle exists, but it’s not centered on a girl anymore, but on a boy. Yes, you’ve heard right, in Ember, two girls are fighting for a guy, for Max’s heart, and their names are Asia and Sam.

Asia it’s the kind of girl that no one can get to, even though everyone desires her.  Intangible, extremely beautiful(dark hair and blue eyes), rich, but at the same time reserved, she had spent her entire life being alone, without a drop of love and only with material things as love’s substitute, but  with no success, however. She is tending(even though she doesn’t shows it too much)  to receive love, but from the right person. Because of the fact that she is gifted with a special supernatural talent, this approaches her to the nature, through the rain, and to Max, even if the two of them don’t get along from the beginning.  Seen in terms of their talents, Max and Asia do complete each other, they are burning and extinguishing together, like an awaken violent volcano, but a volcano of love and passion.

Sam, on the other hand, is the sweet girl’s kind, that likes helping people, she’s popular, and very beautiful and brilliant. She’s a green eyes blonde, and makes herself remarked because of her pleasant being. Max feels like home when he’s around her and he has the feeling that he always knew her.

In quiet a short time, Max gets attached to Asia and Sam, each one of them representing serious competition for the other one(and when I say serious, I mean it!:D), because of the fact that he’s confuse when it come about his decision. He loves them both, and doesn’t know which one to choose. However, everything it’s not that easy and it doesn’t sums up to a choice, because important events are happening soon in the life of the three of them, events that give to the story a whole another shade.

My opinion:
I started reading this book because the plot atracted me and gave me the feeling that this book is going to be a nice read.  Even though I had some difficulties at the beginning with entering in the book’s atmosphere,  in short time I got to the point when I couldn’t let go the book of my hand and in the end it turned out to be a very good read. By far, Asia is my favorite character, and I bet that if you read the book you will truly hate her at the beginning, :D but then you will love her. :D

I really liked Max for his spiritual angle(after my opinion), otherwise what name would you give to a guy so passionate to music and at the same time by the elements of nature?:D But what I didn’t like about him was his indecision. It’s ok not to be able to decide which girl to choose, but it’s not ok to continue with this indecision and make people hurt, no matter how great is your love for them.

I think that at the chapter with supernatural things, the idea wasn’t very well exploited, the accent falls on the relationships between Max and Asia and between Max and Sam. Another thing I’ve noticed it’s a disaccord regarding the narration. It’s not possible for a character to relate some events where he wasn’t present at, but this is just a little inadvertence that passed when the book was edited. But despite all of this, I find this book a good one, I got attached to the characters and all I can say is that it was a really nice read.

Aren’t you curious who is the chosen girl in the end? Well, you’ll find out when you’ll read the book. :D By the way,  I really need to find some time to read Downpour, I’m so curious with what happens next with the characters… In these moments, I hate school. Trust me.

My rating: 4 stars :D (it’s a great rating, considering how hard is to please me when it comes about books:D )

About Downpour, the second volume of the series...

Downpour (Ember, #2)
A little sister lost.

A family tree withered.

A journey to save the past.

Max Valentine is a walking supernova.
On the run and searching for answers, his light darkens.
Dark skies on the horizon make his next chapter ominous.
His powers are fading but still he pushes toward the storm.
Embers still burn but can he survive this one truth...

...love is eternal but the heart is not.
